I am a retired nuclear engineer whose start in rock polishing and jewelry making was inspired by my mother, who passed earlier this year on June 6, 2010. As a child I collected mineral specimens and during my many visits to my mother, I observed her pursuing this hobby. She taught me to make my first cabochon about 13 years ago, and when she needed to sell the family home in Michigan, encouraged me to take the lapidary equipment home to Kansas City. Upon retirement 7 years ago, I started pursuing this hobby with a passion, joined a local rock club and added additional equipment to my collection, including equipment to do casting of jewelry settings using the lost wax casting process.
More recently, after urging by my children and spouse, I decided to start selling the jewelry I create and specialized in making my own settings in sterling silver designing the setting using the lost wax casting method. This also helps me in supporting my hobby in retirement!
I hope you find my creations interesting and perhaps would like to own one?
